Overview

The Consumer Banking Operations Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and indirect supervision of cash handling procedures and negotiable instruments. This role supports operational tasks in the branch and safe deposit area, resolves escalated client and staff issues, and is responsible for risk mitigation and auditing duties. The specialist champions overall branch operational activities and collaborates with Branch Managers and Assistant Branch Managers to provide leadership and training. They promote new or expanded client relationships, maintain high accuracy in work, and ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and banking regulations. This position supports associates, workflow, and service across multiple branch locations within a region.

Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Schedule rotates within a defined region to support each assigned branch monthly.
  • Ensure client transactions comply with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Resolve complex problems, referring inquiries to appropriate staff, and follow through with clients and staff involved.
  • Oversee staff activities, operations, and internal controls.
  • Ensure safe deposit area operates according to controls.
  • Gather, process, and analyze reports such as currency transactions and returned items.
  • Lead by example, developing staff and meeting client needs through coaching, observations, meetings, outbound contacts, product education, and referrals.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through personal example and follow-through.
  • Perform cash handling, safe deposit, and operational responsibilities.
  • Manage operations of multiple branches and vaults.
  • Maintain knowledge of security and safety policies, adhering to procedures and internal controls.
  • Represent JFG in community or civic functions to enhance the company's image and develop business.
Job Requirements – Education, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; relevant work experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years in operational financial services role.
  • Supervisory experience leading a team to exceed goals.
  • Proven ability to exceed goals.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective management of operational requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of products and services.
  • Solid understanding of branch transactions and operations processing.
  • Ability to cross-sell and refer products and services.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to multiple locations.
