Job summary

First Bank & Trust is seeking an intern to learn the fundamentals of Consumer Banking Operations while supporting quality assurance, risk management, procedure management, and operational improvement projects. The role provides exposure to banking processes, internal controls, regulatory expectations, and opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.

  • Strong communication, customer service, attention to detail, and analytical skills are essential.
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working with data and technology, and eager to learn about Consumer Banking.
  • Students from a variety of academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Support the review, development, organization, and maintenance of procedures and related documentation.
  • Assist with risk management activities, including audit or compliance research, documentation, tracking, and follow-up.
  • Analyze processes and data to identify trends, inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Explore opportunities to automate or streamline manual operational processes.
  • Assist with testing proposed process, system, or automation enhancements.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, process maps, and recommendations based on research and analysis.
  • Gain knowledge of banking products, services, systems, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop effective working relationships throughout First Bank & Trust.
  • Gain skills related to professionalism, analysis, problem-solving, decision-making, customer service, and communication.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and honesty, especially in dealing with customer information.
  • Act in accordance with FBT policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training and all meetings deemed appropriate by supervisor.
