AdventHealth in New Smyrna Beach, Florida is hiring a Part-Time Patient Access Specialist for overnight weekend coverage. You will perform Medicare compliance reviews, estimate patient financial responsibility, and coordinate with utilization management.

The role requires a High School diploma, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and databases; background screening per Florida law; pay range listed. Knowledge of patient registration and insurance processes is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; experience in patient access or medical billing preferred.
• Ability to review Medicare compliance and communicate with insurance companies.

Responsibilities

• Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed.
• Creates estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or sets payment plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorization issues.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains pre-authorizations within established timeframes.
• Registers patients for services, ensuring accuracy and avoiding duplication of medical records.

Job Description:

• Part Time Overnights Weekends
• Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed.
• Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or establishes payment plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management staff for pre-authorization issues and ensures patients have necessary logistical information.
• Contacts insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits, and obtains pre-authorizations within established timeframes.
• Registers patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and minimizing duplication of medical records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Mature judgement in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs
• Ability to operate general office machines such as computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner
• Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks, and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
