Position Details:

Title: Consulting Utility Forester
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Regional Supervisor
Effective: 03/2024

Role Overview:

As a Consulting Utility Forester, you'll travel to maintain power lines across diverse terrains, ensuring community safety and promoting sustainable habitats within utility right-of-ways. Your office is the outdoors!

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Contact property owners and agencies regarding pruning/removals.
  2. Conduct tree and brush inventories.
  3. Perform hazard tree inspections and evaluations.
  4. Plan work for tree contractors.
  5. Manage data collection and documentation.
  6. Ensure safety of employees and the public.
  7. Enforce safety practices.
  8. Handle materials, tools, and equipment.
  9. Maintain trucks and equipment.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Degree in forestry or related field and/or utility line clearance experience.
  • Species identification, invasive species knowledge, and understanding of tree growth rates.
  • Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Ability to work independently and in rugged terrains.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in map navigation, Microsoft Office, and GIS (a plus).
