Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Contact property owners and public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals
• Conduct tree and brush inventories
• Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations
• Manage capital projects
• Gather and manage field data, including tree species, size, and distance from conductors
• Validate data across database systems to ensure accurate reporting
• Verify summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards around work areas
• Enforce on-the-job safety practices
• Carry and use materials, tools, and equipment at work sites
• Travel outside as required
• Remain on duty for the duration of emergencies or natural disasters when required

Job description

• Contact property owners and public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals
• Conduct tree and brush inventories
• Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations
• Manage capital projects
• Conduct regular safety audits
• Gather and manage field data, including tree species, size, and distance from conductors
• Validate data across database systems to ensure accurate reporting
• Verify summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards around work areas
• Enforce on-the-job safety practices
• Carry and use materials, tools, and equipment at work sites
• Service trucks and equipment and keep assigned equipment neat and orderly
• Travel outside as required
• Remain on duty for the duration of emergencies or natural disasters when required

Requirements

• Degree in forestry or related field and/or experience in utility line clearance
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in UVM consulting
• Must hold ISA Certified Arborist Certification
• Must be an ISA Utility Specialist within 6 months
• Commercial Pesticide Licensed within 6 months
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards
• Superior species identification skills and invasive species knowledge
• Knowledge of tree growth rates
• Ability to interact with staff and stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
• Proficient in map navigation skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software
• GIS experience a plus
• Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and communicate with employees and vendors
