Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary will depend on factors like role scope, complexity, location, skills, education, and experience. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentives as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking a Consulting Technology Engineer (CICS/IMS Systems Programmer) to join our growing and transforming Technology landscape. This technical individual contributor role on the Realtime Support team involves evaluating, configuring, securing, implementing, and supporting CICS, IMS, z/OS Connect, TPX, CA GEN, EOS, and other software for multiple business groups. Experience with installing, migrating, supporting, and troubleshooting IMS, CICS, and z/OS Connect is preferred.

Under limited supervision, you will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of engineering support, installation, and operations of infrastructure technologies. You will plan at a tactical level, manage technology resources for projects, and possibly lead project staff to design, develop, and implement complex solutions supporting various platforms, databases, and technologies. You may also contribute to database system design and development, and the role requires the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.

What Will You Do?

• Adhere to Travelers change management processes regarding change windows, lead times, ServiceNow requests, and access escalation.
• Understand Travelers' business groups and products to support their needs and ensure availability of CICS and IMS regions.
• Consult with business groups and technology teams on application development, security, and new features.
• Participate in meetings with IBM and ISV to discuss product roadmaps and incidents.
• Configure and connect CICS & IMS to other technologies like MQ and DB2, and enable application API deployments.
• Develop and test solutions for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Occasional weekend and after-hours on-call support.
• Develop operational plans aligned with strategic objectives.
• Drive departmental and corporate programs.
• Leverage infrastructure technology to develop or redesign solutions.
• Build effective alliances across technical and business communities.
• Engage with customers to achieve effective results.
• Prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
• Serve as a technical expert within the service delivery organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• Knowledge of SMP/E software installation, analyzing PTFs, and maintaining software currency.
• Understanding of CICS and IMS parameters, internals, and performance optimization.
• Ability to create and migrate CICS and IMS regions and definitions.
• Supporting z/OS Connect, TPX, CA GEN, EOS, and other ISV software is a plus.
• Seven years of experience in technology preferred.
• Two years of technical lead experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage.
• Expertise in foundational IT infrastructure, Operating Systems, and Software.
• Knowledge of process discipline and IDLC methodology.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience, plus five years of technology experience; or a Master’s degree with three years of experience.
