Job summary

LS ELECTRIC America, Inc. seeks a Field Application Engineer to act as the primary technical resource for customers, ensuring LSEA products are specified in base specifications and projects.

You will provide tailored solutions, train sales teams, and develop proposals, collaborating with engineering, sales, and project teams to align customer needs with LSEA’s power systems.

Travel up to 40% across regions; a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years in MV/LV switchgear design are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical design for MV/LV switchgear and distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL, and EUSERC.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% across assigned regions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical resource for customers to ensure LSEA products are specified and listed as preferred/approved in base specifications.
  • Provide tailored technical assistance and drive value in applications using LSEA’s product suite.
  • Serve as product expert to solve complex technical challenges and support sales teams.
  • Collaborate with Sales/Business Development to present technical solutions and recommendations.
  • Develop opportunities by leveraging LSEA IP and resources across traditional and emerging markets.
  • Train and support sales reps and internal teams on product systems and solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with customer management and executives, offering technical insights and resolving issues.
  • Report market trends, gaps, and customer needs to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Senior Consulting – Specifying Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Act as the primary technical resource for customers, ensuring LSEA products are specified and listed as preferred/approved manufacturers in base specifications and technical projects.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers, delivering tailored solutions and driving value in applications using LSEA’s product suite.
  • Serve as a product expert, leveraging disruptive innovation solutions and LSEA Ability
  • technology to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Business Development teams to create strategic plans, representing technical solutions and recommendations.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities by utilizing LSEA intellectual property, technical resources, and expertise in both traditional and emerging markets.
  • Train and support sales representatives and internal team members on LSEA product systems and technical solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers' management and executives, providing technical insights, resolving complex problems, and optimizing operations.
  • Act as a market intelligence source for senior management, reporting on product gaps, new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs.
  • Provide technical support to project managers and representatives as needed, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
  • Develop and deliver customer training on industry technical topics and LSEA-specific solutions, addressing customer challenges effectively.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals that position LSEA competitively in the market.
  • Resolve technical and commercial conflicts, including quotation terms, deliverables, and liquidated damages, in collaboration with the legal and project teams.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical design for MV/LV switchgear and one-line electrical distribution systems.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth familiarity with codes and standards such as ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL, and EUSERC.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 40% travel across the assigned regions.
