Consulting Sales Engineer. This role has been designated as ‘Remote/Teleworker’, which means you will primarily work from home.

What You’ll Do

We have an immediate opening for a team-oriented, highly effective, and self-motivated individual to join the WAN technical solution Architecture (TSA) team. Technical solution architects partner with sales engineers, account managers, PLM and engineering to drive technical sales activities, focusing on opportunities involving new products and emerging technologies. You will be a trusted advisor, educating customers on evolving trends in networking and how our products and solutions can help them achieve their business goals. For this role, you will support customer engagements around WAN architecture and solutions, building and maintaining close relationships with existing and potential customers from initial engagement to closing the opportunity. This is an advanced career-level technical leadership role requiring in-depth WAN architecture expertise as well as broad knowledge across switching, routing, security, and automation to position complex multi-technology solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Drive technical consulting activities in new and existing WAN opportunities, acting as a trusted adviser to the account team and the customer. Cover a wide range of routing and automation technologies and cross-segment solutions in cooperation with other domain architects.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with sales engineering and account management teams, GTM channel partners, and cooperate with Product Line Management and Engineering.
  • Support sales engineering teams by understanding customer requirements, guiding solution design, delivering technical deep-dive presentations and demonstrations, contributing to Proof-of-Concept tests, presenting/training at seminars, and assisting with tender responses.
  • Become a go-to person and trusted advisor for the sales engineering community, including product portfolio and automation solutions, plus broader industry trends and competitive solutions in your focus area.
  • Speak at internal and external conferences, technology days, such as Tech Clubs, Innovation Days, and other industry events.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record in a customer-facing pre-sales role selling networking equipment or related design/architecture/vendor selection.
  • Exceptional hands-on skills and the ability to support complex proof-of-concept tests with potentially new products and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work in virtual, multinational teams with little supervision and diverse stakeholder demands.
  • Credible technical interaction with Enterprise and Service Provider Engineering teams about WAN industry topics at a detailed level.
  • Outstanding communication skills for diverse audiences and at all levels; English verbal and written/presentation skills are mandatory; other major languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to visit customers, partners, and account teams.
Technical Knowledge
  • Proven track record in designing WAN architectures; experience in implementing such architectures or product knowledge is an advantage.
  • Expert level hands-on knowledge of routing protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, Multicast, Layer-2/3 VPNs), BNG, Carrier Ethernet, and tunneling technologies (MPLS, RSVP, SR-TE, SRv6).
  • Strong knowledge of network management, service provisioning, automation, monitoring, and telemetry interfaces (Netconf/Rest APIs, YANG, OpenConfig, gRPC); experience with management solutions or equivalents is a plus.
  • Experience with containers and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and familiarity with Linux.
  • Automation and programming skills (e.g., Python, Ansible).

This role can be located in any major hub in the USA, preferably in the Pacific or Mountain time zones.

Typically, 20%–30% of working time is spent traveling.
