About The Role

As a Consulting Principal AWS Cloud Engineer, you will define best practices, establish cloud vision, mentor teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure our cloud infrastructure is robust, secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient. You will influence strategic cloud initiatives and build solutions that enable business agility and innovation.

Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and implement AWS cloud strategy aligned with business goals.
• Provide technical leadership and advocate for cloud-native best practices.
• Lead architectural decisions for scalability, security, and efficiency.

Cloud Architecture & Design

• Architect secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments.
• Maintain enterprise cloud blueprints and frameworks.
• Research emerging cloud technologies for continuous innovation.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

• Lead IaC adoption using Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm.
• Design CI/CD pipelines for deployment automation.
• Implement automated failover mechanisms for resilience.

Kubernetes & Cloud-Native Technologies

• Manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS, Helm, IAM) for scalability and security.
• Define best practices for container orchestration.
• Enhance Kubernetes networking and observability.

Security & Compliance

• Establish security best practices for AWS, including IAM, WAF, encryption.
• Implement zero-trust security models and ensure compliance.
• Conduct security audits and incident responses.

Monitoring & Reliability Engineering

• Deploy monitoring tools (DataDog, Splunk, CloudWatch).
• Apply SRE principles for system uptime and reliability.
• Perform post-mortem analyses for continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Thought Leadership

• Collaborate with developers, engineers, security teams.
• Mentor and lead technical teams.
• Engage in industry sharing through speaking and open-source contributions.

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in AWS cloud engineering and architecture.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services: EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation.
• Expertise in Kubernetes (EKS, Helm, Daemon Sets, etc.).
• Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation, scripting (Bash, Python).
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Monitoring/logging tools experience (DataDog, Splunk, CloudWatch).
• Strong networking/security knowledge (DNS, VPC, NAT, Security Groups, IAM).
• Experience developing scalable automation tools using Python.

Preferred Certifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent.
• Kubernetes (CKA), AWS Security, or DevOps certifications are a plus.

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Experience leading cloud strategy initiatives.
• Mentoring and guiding technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills in complex cloud environments.
• Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to drive cultural change and advocate cloud transformation.
