Job summary

CapTech seeks a UX/Product Design intern for Summer 2027. The role is in-person at our Richmond, VA headquarters with a 10-week program and weekly leadership Lunch-and-Learns.

Interns work in self-led teams, paired with full-time consultants, and contribute to real client problems using Figma, Adobe CC, and UX research methods. Strong problem-solving, communication, and curiosity about AI-powered design tools are valued.

Qualifications

• Undergraduates with expected graduation dates in 2027-2028.
• Portfolio required for consideration.
• Experience with Figma and Adobe CC strongly desired.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exposure to design systems, accessibility or UX research is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to information architectures, task flows, wireframes and prototypes.
• Create UI designs aligned with visual design and accessibility best practices.
• Conduct usability testing and apply insights to designs.
• Prepare concise client and team presentations explaining design rationale.
• Collaborate with clients and team members on research-backed UX benefits.

Elevate provides meaningful immersion into the full life cycle of a typical IT consulting project. This unique 10-week program takes place in person in our Richmond, Virginia Headquarters and simulates a client engagement where one can achieve a full understanding of the consulting experience while solving relevant client problems. Interns work in self-led teams and are paired with full-time consultants for guidance and mentorship. Additionally, interns enjoy weekly lunch-and-learns with our leadership team. Some responsibilities you could have as a UX.Product Design intern:

• Contributing to and producing information architectures, task flows, wireframes, and prototypes that follow interaction design and usability best practices.
• Creating or applying UI designs that enhance the overall user experience, aligning with visual design and accessibility best practices.
• Leveraging UX research methodologies and conducting usability testing to create informed, iterative design.
• Creating clean, informative, and concise presentations to clients and internal teams that communicate the rationale behind your designs.
• Collaborating and consulting with clients and team members on the benefits of research-backed user experience and interaction design.
• Staying current on design, technology, and AI-enabled workflow trends and evaluating their relevance to client solutions.

We are seeking UX/Product Designers for Summer 2027 who will work on integrated teams todesign and implement a solution to a business problem over the course of the summer using development platforms and languages. All applicants must submit a portfolio. Characteristics of a qualified candidate include:

• Current undergraduates with expected graduation dates in Winter 2027- Spring 2028 who will be seeking full-time work after graduation.
• Demonstrated an ability to be self-motivated, curious contributors in a team environment.
• Project or internship experience utilizing tools such as Figma and Adobe CC, is strongly desired, with working knowledge of Accessibility best practices a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exposure to design systems, accessibility, UX research, or product design through coursework or projects.
• Ability to discuss design decisions and communicate ideas effectively.Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI-powered design tools and workflows.
• Hands‑on experience exploring AI-powered prototyping and design tools to rapidly generate concepts, user flows, wireframes, or interactive experiences is a plus.
• All majors welcome to apply; Human‑Centered Interaction (HCI), Digital Media, Web Design, Information Science, and Graphic Design majors preferred, but not required.
• Availability to work in‑person 40 hours/week for 10 weeks in Richmond, VA from June 1 through August 6, 2027 (housing stipend provided for those living more than 50 miles away).
