Consulting Associate, Land & Right of Way (Entry Level)

ERM is seeking a motivated Consulting Associate, Land & Right of Way based in the upper Midwest to support projects primarily in the electric transmission and distribution industry. The role involves supporting projects across various sectors, negotiating and securing legal land agreements (rights-of-way, leases, grants, fee purchases, etc.), and assisting with land research, negotiations, and project management tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level professional to build a career with a global environmental leader or broader sustainability consulting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage multiple projects, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations regarding scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
  2. Develop relationships with clients to support their projects and identify new opportunities.
  3. Negotiate and secure land agreements from landowners, including private owners, corporations, and government agencies.
  4. Perform or oversee deed and title research and investigations.
  5. Act as a liaison between property owners and clients.
  6. Support land valuation studies and permit applications.
  7. Investigate damage claims and assist in settlement negotiations.
  8. Supervise staff, land agents, and subcontractors.
  9. Develop proposals, budgets, project plans, and reports.
  10. Manage project land budgets and financial reports.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in planning, geography, or related field preferred; IRWA registration optional.
  • 0-3 years of consulting experience supporting land and right-of-way projects.
  • Ability to manage priorities, work independently and in teams, and develop growth strategies in relevant industries.

Compensation ranges from $63,689 to $70,824 USD annually, based on various factors. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, 401(k), and others. Applications can be submitted via ERM careers portal.
