Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Recent graduate to 1 year of relevant experience.

  • Strong commitment to health and safety and safety protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with strong organization and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance on environmental compliance projects, system development and auditing.
  • Develop procedures, plans, permits, and technical reports.
  • Assess regulatory compliance across multiple environmental programs.
  • Conduct compliance audits and support corrective actions per regulations.
  • Deliver on-site EHS compliance support at client facilities.
  • Design and implement environmental and EHS management systems and programs.
  • Support Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to deliver client projects.
  • Build and maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
  • Collaborate with ERM colleagues across teams and geographies.

ERM is seeking a Consulting Associate, Environmental Compliance to join our growing Safe & Sustainable Operations (SSO) team in Houston, TX. This role is an exciting entry point into environmental consulting, offering hands-on experience across environmental compliance, EHS management systems, and auditing programs. You’ll work alongside industry-leading experts supporting complex projects for major Oil & Gas, Chemical, Technology, and Power clients—locally, nationally, and internationally. What You’ll Bring
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Or equivalent experience.
  • Recent graduate to 1 year of relevant experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, including adherence to established safety protocols
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with strong organization and analytical abilities
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • Ability to multi-task, remain flexible, work independently, and operate with minimal supervision
  • Local candidates preferred
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Exposure to recording, analyzing, and writing detailed technical data and reports
  • EIT, ASP, CHMM, or similar certifications
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance on environmental compliance projects, management system development and implementation, compliance assurance, and auditing

  • Assess regulatory compliance across multiple environmental programs and media
  • Conduct compliance audits and support follow‑up corrective actions aligned with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Deliver on‑site EHS compliance support at client facilities
  • Design and implement environmental and EHS management systems and programs
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to successfully deliver client projects
  • Build and maintain collaborative client relationships that support repeat business
  • Work closely with ERM colleagues across teams and geographies
