About The Role

We are looking for Senior Consultant level candidates with 2-3 years of relevant work experience to join our South Africa team in Johannesburg. Through formal and informal on the job learning, you will develop the skill set to become a leading advisor providing the best industry advice to our clients.

The main purpose of the role is to provide clients with financial due diligence services which includes buy-side due diligence, sell-side due diligence, vendor assist services and exit readiness reviews. This role will also entail collaborating with team members to deliver quality output to

our clients , actively contributing to business growth, and managing junior staff whilst providing on-the-job coaching.

What You’ll Do

  • Analysis and modelling of financial performance (past and future) of an acquisition target including
  • Performing financial reviews of target companies’ profitability, liquidity and solvency
  • Analyzing and reviewing historical performance against budget and investigating reasons for variations
  • The preparation of financial due diligence reports
  • Ability to work with large datasets and identify key metrics and trends.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, identifying key trends, and understanding the financial health of businesses.
  • Identify key risks and issues in financial performance, quality of earnings, cash flow, and working capital.
  • Overall responsibility for delivery of smaller projects (direct with Partner / Director) or responsibility for standalone divisions / sections of FDD on larger projects (this will include buy or sell side, refinancing and equity raising transactions)
  • Due diligence team management and co-ordination (including dealing with client, target management, on the job coaching, review of junior work etc.)
  • Direct communication with the clients on key issues relating to your sections
  • Direct communication and liaisons with M&A bankers and clients on appropriate presentation and business valuation of target opportunities, in line with diligence findings
  • Supervision and mentoring of Consultants and taking full responsibility for review of their analysis / sections and being accountable for their output
  • Identification of key value drivers, SPA price adjustments, and deal breakers
  • Business development including identification and valuation of target opportunities and preparation of pitch documents
  • Effective communication with senior members of the team and clients
  • Proactive development of internal and external relationships

What You Will Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of M&A, transactions or valuations experience
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or working towards certification

Preferred Skills:

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or working towards certification
  • Previous experience at an Audit or Consulting firm
  • Strong ability to work as a team player and collaborate effectively with team members Ability to identify and assess key risks and opportunities in a target company’s financials.
  • Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and deliver high-quality results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to effectively present findings to clients and team members.
  • Skills in quickly identifying issues and formulating effective solutions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements or timelines.
  • Excel: Advanced use of spreadsheets for financial analysis and modeling.
  • PowerPoint: Proficiency in creating presentations for clients.
