Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

This position offers an opportunity to work within the largest health board in Scotland.

Our team is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including FFD mammography, new ultrasound equipment (GE), stereotactic tables, and digital tomosynthesis for patient assessment.

We perform large volume biopsies and excisions for our patients and symptomatic referrals from across the West of Scotland. Recently, we introduced Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography. The team comprises approximately 100 staff members. The role is full-time, with consideration for part-time applicants. The initial contract is for 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), with potential to increase to 12 following detailed job planning.

A sub-specialist interest in BREAST imaging is required to complement the existing team. Candidates interested solely in breast sub-specialty imaging are encouraged to apply. Opportunities to work in the West of Scotland Breast Screening Service are available. The role includes contributions to teaching, training, and governance. The job plan may adapt to service changes, including inpatient service rationalization, and cross-cover responsibilities will be negotiated within acceptable limits. The exact timetable will be tailored to the successful candidate's abilities and interests.

Clinical commitments may include:

  • Mammogram reporting
  • Breast MRI reporting (desirable)
  • Breast MDT participation
  • Screening mammogram reading
  • Screening assessment clinics
  • Breast screening MDT involvement
  • Clinical administration
  • SPA sessions
