Job description

Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon - PERM - Essex Region

Triple West Medical is currently seeking an experienced Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for a permanent position.

The Trust employs over 10,000 staff providing a comprehensive range of acute and community services across multiple sites to serve over 1 million people. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills and be actively involved in teaching and supervising multidisciplinary staff.

The service operates on a hub and spoke model. The hub is at the main hospital, with spokes at two additional locations. Each site has a staffed oral & maxillofacial outpatient department offering outpatient, ambulatory, and day case services. Specialty clinics such as head and neck cancer and facial deformity are held at spoke units. All overnight stays, head and neck cancer cases, trauma, and emergency care are centralized.

Brief Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Provide and coordinate an effective oral and maxillofacial service, developing a sub-specialty that complements the department. Participate in departmental activities including on-call duties, audits, and teaching.
  2. Participate in on-call commitments and undertake emergency procedures.
  3. Work with the General Manager and Clinical Director on the business plan for the oral and maxillofacial service.
  4. Must be fully GMC and GDC registered with a license to practice and hold a specialist listing in the GMC Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Register.
  5. Provide consultant-level on-call duties (1 in 6).
  6. Perform independent elective and emergency surgeries, including day cases.
  7. Conduct specialty clinics, with a focus on skeletal malocclusions, trauma, and secondary deformity management.
  8. Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other absences.
  9. Take on responsibilities related to a special interest.
  10. Supervise and manage junior medical staff, adhering to employment and HR policies.
  11. Contribute to teaching, examinations, accreditation, and medical education activities at local and national levels.

Our client is willing to issue Certificates of Sponsorships to qualified overseas doctors. Dual GMC and GDC registration and relevant experience are essential.
