Consultant in Paediatrics - General Paediatrics with Neonates, and Community Paediatrics.
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Consultant in Paediatrics. This post will provide exciting opportunities to make a real difference to the care of children of York and North Yorkshire. This post is a hybrid general paediatric / community paediatric post, and will involve day time acute work as Consultant of the week and Neonatologist of the week on a 1:10 rota (5 general paediatric weeks a year and 4 neonatal weeks a year), when not on for the acute services weeks will include both general paediatric and community paediatric outpatient clinics. It is expected that the successful applicant will have relevant experience in general paediatrics and neonates (level 2 neonatal unit) and in community paediatrics (including neuro-disability and autism)
There is no out of hours commitment in this post.
The Trust is seeking a highly motivated individual to directly influence both service delivery and the future development plans for the Paediatric services locally.
A key driver is to improve the overall patient experience and this is focused around providing a high quality, safe, responsive and coordinated service within the local and regional health area. The service is therefore looking to appoint an individual who has vision and drive combined with a passion for caring for children, to work in York and surrounding areas.
The general paediatric aspect of the job involves day time acute work as Consultant of the Week or Neonatologist of the Week, and general paediatric outpatient clinics.
The community paediatric aspect of the job involves developmental paediatric clinics, including assessment and management of patients with autism and complex neuro-disability. There will be opportunities for the successful applicant to develop any areas of special interest within the field of community paediatrics.
This post does not include any out of hours work and is a full time post (10 PA, including 1.25 PA SPA) but those wishing to work less than full time are also encouraged to apply.

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £27.38 for a standard check and £55.38 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for.
