Job summary

TruStage seeks a Senior Privacy Compliance Lead to mature the privacy program and advise business and technology leaders on data use, privacy controls and governance. You will guide cross-functional teams, promote privacy-by-design, and oversee regulatory changes while helping build organizational capability.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration to protect customer information and drive compliant, innovative solutions across the enterprise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, compliance, information management, law, information systems, risk management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in privacy compliance, records and information management, regulatory compliance, risk management or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and enhancing privacy compliance programs.
  • Experience supporting California privacy compliance programs and regulatory implementation.
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to lead through influence and provide mentorship and guidance without direct supervisory authority.
  • Deep knowledge of privacy laws, data use requirements and information governance principles.
  • Strong understanding of records and information management practices and controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, navigate ambiguity and proactively advance organizational objectives.

  • Lead complex privacy initiatives and drive execution of program priorities.
  • Serve as SME on privacy compliance, data use, records management and regulatory changes.
  • Provide guidance on California privacy obligations, monitoring and notice management.
  • Mentor and coach team members and partners to strengthen capabilities.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, recommending improvements to the program.
  • Collaborate with business, technology and data teams to design compliant, practical solutions.
  • Drive automation, analytics and AI-enabled compliance solutions.
  • Develop monitoring, reporting, metrics and governance activities for oversight.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to interpret new laws and industry expectations.
  • Influence enterprise decisions through strong consultation and communication.
  • Deliver training and awareness on privacy and records management.

Job Purpose

This position serves as a senior Privacy compliance lead responsible for supporting the continued maturity of TruStage's Privacy program. Working closely with Compliance leadership, this role helps shape and operationalize strategic program priorities, drives complex initiatives and ensures effective integration of privacy and records management requirements across the enterprise. The position serves as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, providing expert guidance on privacy and proper data use matters while also offering leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members and cross-functional partners.

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with Compliance leadership to mature Privacy program capabilities, processes and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead complex privacy initiatives and drive execution of program priorities across the enterprise.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on privacy compliance, data use, records management and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance and management on California privacy compliance obligations, including program execution, monitoring, reporting, notice management and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Provide informal leadership, coaching, mentorship and strategic guidance to team and business partners while helping build organizational capabilities and team effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify and assess risks, opportunities and solutions, recommending improvements that strengthen the program.
  • Take initiative to understand client business.
  • Consult with business, technology and data teams to design compliant, practical solutions that support business objectives while managing risk with privacy-by-design.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement with automation, artificial intelligence, analytics and technology-enabled compliance solutions.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, reporting, metrics and governance activities that support effective program oversight and compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to interpret and operationalize new laws, regulations and industry expectations.
  • Influence enterprise decision-making through strong consultation, relationship management and communication.
  • Deliver training, awareness and educational initiatives related to privacy, data use, records management and compliance expectations.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, compliance, information management, law, information systems, risk management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or related professional work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in privacy compliance, records and information management, regulatory compliance, risk management or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and enhancing privacy compliance programs.
  • Experience supporting California privacy compliance programs and regulatory implementation.
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to lead through influence and provide mentorship and guidance without direct supervisory authority.
  • Deep knowledge of privacy laws, data use requirements and information governance principles.
  • Strong understanding of records and information management practices and controls.
  • Proven ability to think strategically while independently driving execution and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify risks, opportunities and solutions with limited direction.
  • Strong business consultation, influence and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders.
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence, automation, analytics and technology solutions to improve compliance program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ability to understand and evaluate technical controls, system designs and data management practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated history of producing polished, high-quality work products.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, navigate ambiguity and proactively advance organizational objectives.
Preferred
  • Certification(s) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), e.g., CIPP, CIPM and/or CIPT.

Compensation

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status. Base Salary Range: $114,600.00 - $171,900.00
