ERM is seeking a self-starting Consultant, Environmental Permitting Specialist, FERC Generalist to join our consulting firm. This role can be based anywhere in the United States. You will provide high-quality analytical support to ERM clients, working closely with team members.

Assignments will include field and desktop work focused on impact assessment and permitting for energy projects such as natural gas pipelines, LNG terminals, renewables, and transmission lines. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional to advance their career with a global sustainability leader.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare permit applications required by federal, state, or local environmental agencies for energy/industrial facility projects.
  2. Evaluate regulatory requirements.
  3. Maintain records and survey reports.
  4. Assist in preparing technical documents, including writing, data management, and engineering calculations.
  5. Support project planning, scheduling, and management reporting.
  6. Communicate with clients, request project info, answer regulatory questions, and provide recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural science or engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant work or internship experience.
  • Experience with FERC is a plus.
  • Up to 40% travel.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience with research, GIS, map interpretation, and online studies.
  • Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions.
  • Ability to navigate using GPS, maps, and aerial photos.
  • Ability to produce concise technical reports.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong safety commitment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.
  • Attributes of a strong consultant: team player, eager to learn, self-starter, versatile, service-oriented.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with resource management agencies and regulations.
  • Field or consulting experience.
  • Familiarity with construction sites and survey techniques.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS software.

Salary range: $74,000 – $83,641 USD annually, based on experience and other factors. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, 401(k), and more.
