Join to apply for the Consultant, Environmental Permitting Specialist, FERC Generalist (Mid-Level) role at ERM.

ERM is seeking a self-starting Consultant, Environmental Permitting Specialist, FERC Generalist to join our consulting team. This role can be based anywhere in the United States. You will provide high-quality analytical support to ERM clients, working closely with team members.

The work will involve impact assessment and permitting for energy projects such as natural gas pipelines, LNG terminals, renewables, and transmission lines. This is an excellent opportunity for career advancement with a global sustainability leader.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare permit applications for federal, state, or local environmental authorities related to energy/industrial facilities.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and survey reports.
  • Assist in preparing technical documents, including writing, data management, and engineering calculations.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and management reports.
  • Communicate with clients, provide regulatory guidance, and make recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural science or engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work or internship experience.
  • Experience with FERC is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with desktop research, GIS, map interpretation, and environmental data sources.
  • Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions and navigate using GPS and maps.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a safety-conscious mindset.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of natural resource agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Field or consulting experience, familiarity with construction sites, and survey techniques.
  • Experience with ArcGIS software.

Salary range: $74,000 – $83,641 USD annually, based on experience and other factors.
