ERM is seeking a self-starting Consultant, Environmental Permitting Specialist, FERC Generalist to join our consulting firm. This role can be based anywhere in the United States. As part of our team, you will provide high-quality analytical support to ERM clients while working closely with other team members.

Assignments will involve a mix of field and desktop work focused on impact assessment and permitting for energy projects such as natural gas pipelines, Liquefied Natural Gas terminals, renewables, and transmission lines. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional aiming to advance their career with a global sustainability leader.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare permit applications required by federal, state, or local environmental authorities for energy/industrial facility projects.
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records and survey reports.
  • Assist in preparing technical documents, including writing, data management, and engineering calculations.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and management reporting.
  • Communicate with clients, including requesting information, answering regulatory questions, and providing recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a natural science or engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work or internship experience.
  • Experience with FERC is advantageous.
  • Up to 40% travel.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experience with research, GIS, map interpretation, and natural resource studies.
  • Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions and navigate using GPS and maps.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and following health protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with natural resource agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Field or consulting experience, familiarity with construction sites, and survey techniques.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS software.

Salary range: $74,000 – $83,641 annually, based on experience and other factors. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more.
