Job summary

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) seeks a Consultant, Engineering/Geology/Science in Rochester, NY to apply geological, hydrogeological, and environmental science expertise to site investigations, remediation projects, and regulatory challenges.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, conduct field sampling, evaluate data, and support regulatory reporting while helping clients protect human health and ecosystems across the Great Lakes region.

Qualifications

  • BS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience, with interest and willingness to participate in field assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience recording and writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to thrive in a consulting environment, managing multiple tasks, adapting to shifting priorities, and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, with mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established Health & Safety protocols.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
  • Preferred Environmental fieldwork experience.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental fieldwork, including Soil, sediment, groundwater, building, waste, and surface water sampling.
  • Aquifer testing.
  • Drilling oversight and soil logging.
  • Soil boring and monitoring well installation.
  • Well development, purging, and sampling.
  • Construction oversight.
  • Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  • Support environmental remediation/demolition projects and operation and maintenance (O&M) of remediation systems.
  • Compile and evaluate soil, groundwater, air, sediment, and other environmental data.
  • Assist in preparing reports for regulatory agency submittals.
  • Review groundwater chemistry data and prepare figures and exhibits for regulatory reporting.
  • Perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to support property transfer transactions.
  • Assist with compliance related to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Manage assignments within defined quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, tenants, and clients during field activities.

For the Consultant, Engineering/Geology/Science position, the anticipated annual base pay is $74,200-103,200 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay subject to the sole discretion of ERM and its policies and procedures (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
