Job description

The BRG Corporate Finance practice specializes in providing strategic, operational, and financial advice to private equity firms, management teams, boards of directors, investors, hedge funds, and other lenders on companies that are either underperforming or in transition.

The BRG Corporate Finance practice has in-depth experience across a wide range of industries and markets, including but not limited to retail, consumer products, financial services, healthcare, energy, and technology. Across sectors, BRG has experienced professionals who understand the challenges clients face — making it well-equipped to help solve clients’ issues.

Our five core service offerings include:

  1. Turnaround & Restructuring (T&R)
  2. Transaction Advisory (TA)
  3. Finance Excellence (FE)
  4. Private Equity PortCo Services (PEPS)
  5. Transaction & Valuation Opinions (VAL)

The BRG Turnaround & Restructuring practice is seeking to add professionals due to client demand and market opportunities. The ideal candidate should be prepared to work in a team-oriented environment on a diverse range of turnaround advisory assignments. Articulating findings and recommendations around the key financial, business issues, and value drivers are critical components for this position. The ideal candidate will have skills in the following areas:

  1. Three-statement financial modeling, including scenario planning
  2. Financial planning & analysis
  3. 13-week cash flow modeling
  4. Chapter 11 process
  5. Transactions, including sale of assets or businesses

Responsibilities

  1. Support the day-to-day activities of BRG Corporate Finance – Turnaround & Restructuring client service teams on engagements
  2. Execute multiple tasks across a consulting engagement including modeling and client presentations
  3. Utilize business, finance, accounting, and analytical skills to perform tasks including: 13-week cash flow models, 3-statement models, and pro-forma scenario models
  4. Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment; collaborate with T&R and BRG experts, professionals from other firms, and client contacts to achieve engagement objectives
  5. Assist in preparation of reports, written analyses, presentations, and other client deliverables
  6. Participate in the development of a fast-growing, entrepreneurial consulting practice including assisting in marketing, client pitches, and product and practice development
  7. Demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree or degree equivalent in Business, Accounting/Finance, Management, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or related field;
  2. 4+ years of work experience, ideally in a consulting or professional services environment;
  3. Experience in financial modeling and analysis (particularly in Excel), including constructing and understanding 3-statement financial models, cash flows, and scenario analyses;
  4. Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of financial and operational data;
  5. Ability to interpret the results of qualitative and quantitative analysis and develop insights and recommendations;
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with junior and senior team members, senior management, and other stakeholders or professionals;
  7. Mature presence, empathy, intellectual curiosity, and ability to learn quickly;
  8. Ability to work well independently or in a team dynamic;
  9. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize changing work demands and learn quickly;
  10. CFA, CPA (or equivalent), or technical/GAAP accounting expertise is a plus;
  11. Advanced in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word;
  12. Willingness to travel as needed.
