Job description

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This a temporary or on-call position. Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services. Consultants paid on grant funds must be paid on an hourly or daily basis, with a minimum wage of $12.00 per hour. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary
  • Work with the University and the community to secure resources to implement agreed upon CCED projects.
  • Build Unit and University capacity and contribute to mission of CCED.
  • Make Scholarly contributions to a selected profession or discipline through publication, presentations and activities that advance scholarship and professional development.
  • Organize and maintain a community network with targeted communities/partners in specific projects.
  • Identify issues of concern with partners to develop and implement innovative community and economic development strategies to address these issues.
  • Conduct Needs assessments/capacities and applied research.
  • Communicate and interact with leaders to support community and economic development concepts and programs.
  • Working with and provide leadership to community experts, MSU faculty and staff, graduate and undergraduate students, to disseminate community and economic development research.
  • Managing the daily operation and supervise personnel and staff of specifically assigned CCED programs or projects.
  • Develop and implement evaluation and monitoring strategies to assess the impact of the innovative university/community outreach initiatives.
  • Promote an appropriate climate for diversity in the research/instruction/outreach settings.
  • Author resource materials, technical fact sheets, reports, manuals, computer programs, manuscripts, books and other educational publications on technology and/or applied research for distribution to the public.
  • Present non-credit seminars, lectures, workshops, training, etc. for off-campus constituents
  • Write grants, individually and cooperatively, and manage resources, i.e., people, funding, materials, etc. necessary to carry out service/outreach programs and projects
  • Develop and implement other activities as appropriate in support of the unit mission and objectives.

Minimum requirements: Master's degree, three years of program management experience, and experience working with diverse individuals.

Experience working with diverse individuals and communities. Supervisory experience. Knowledge of MSU administrative processes.
