Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) Clinton Project Office in Clinton, MO is seeking a construction technician to provide semi-skilled technical support on engineering projects under moderate supervision.

You will perform basic construction tests (air, slump, moisture, density), assist in planning, inspect paving materials, maintain records, enter data into computer systems, and report findings to your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required within 90 days.
  • Successful completion of a work simulation examination and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic construction tests such as air, slump, moisture, compaction, aggregate gradation, and density; report results to supervisor.
  • Perform measurements, computations, or other work in preparing final plans, change orders, and contractor payment estimates.
  • Assist in inspection of bituminous and Portland cement concrete plants and/or grading, base, bituminous or concrete paving.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports pertaining to inspections; keep supervisor informed of activities or unusual conditions; ensure projects meet department standards.
  • Enter and record information regarding construction projects into computer programs.

  • Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
