Job summary

Ayres in Wisconsin is seeking a Construction Technician to join our employee-owned team and help observe municipal infrastructure projects. You’ll perform field observations, measurements, record keeping, and reporting to ensure conformance with project contracts.

Ideal candidates have an associate or bachelor’s in construction management or civil engineering technology, plus municipal infrastructure observation experience; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering technology, or equivalent.
• Municipal infrastructure construction observation experience is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction observation of municipal infrastructure projects.
• Perform quantity measurements and computations, keep records, prep contractor pay estimates and review progress.
• Materials testing; field staking and general inspection for municipal road and utility projects.
• Interpret drawings and specs to ensure conformance with contracts.
• Maintain client relations while in the field.
• Prepare reports and conduct field investigations of design problems.

On any given day, you’ll:

• Perform construction observation of municipal infrastructure projects.
• Perform quantity measurements and computations, record keeping, contractor pay estimate preparation and review of contractor progress; materials testing; field staking and general inspection for municipal road and utility projects.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications and take appropriate action to ensure the project is constructed in conformance with the requirements of the project construction contract.
• Maintain client relations while in the field.
• Prepare reports, review design standards and code requirements, and conduct field investigation of design problems.

Required qualifications:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering technology or equivalent.
• Previous municipal infrastructure construction observation experience, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water main, and roadway construction experience would be beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Desired skills and experiences:

• Experience in excel and word.
• Experience working in AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Staking/survey experience.
• Strong written/verbal communications skills and the ability to operate independently.
