Job summary

SpaceX in Wisconsin is seeking a Construction Technician to support rapid development and build of Starship's vertical integration facilities. This role requires hands-on construction, earthwork, and heavy equipment operation to enable future Mars missions.

You will work on frame structures, perform basic concrete work, read blueprints, and follow strict safety practices in a fast-paced environment. A valid driver's license and 2+ years of construction experience are required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of residential/commercial/civil construction experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform regular manual labor.

Job description

CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.


Building on the rapid advancement of the Starship program, we are moving into a new phase of facility and infrastructure growth. As the Starship launch cadence ramps up we are in need of multiple new facilities to support new vehicle builds and reflight refurbishment across various sites. We are currently seeking technicians to support the rapid development and build of Starship's next generation vertical integration facilities. It is these facilities that will ultimately enable the path to the Moon, Mars and beyond.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Frame fences, stairs, decks, walls, floors, sheds, concrete forms, and other structures

  • Construct and support various MEP projects

  • Use equipment to perform earthwork, demo, clearing and cleaning

  • Use hand and measurement tools and manual equipment (saws, squares, shovels, etc.)

  • Support various landscaping projects

  • Layout, installation, repair, finishing, maintaining various structures, fixtures and buildings

  • Basic concrete work and repair on sidewalks, curbs, driveways, and patios

  • Operate forklifts, boom lifts, and other heavy equipment

  • Adhere to proper safety guidelines at all times

  • Keep tools, materials and equipment in working condition

  • Advise in the selection of building materials; requisitions building materials and supplies

  • Transport various heavy materials in vehicles


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • 2+ years of residential/commercial/civil construction experience


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience in many construction environments

  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), concrete, framing, and industrial gas trade systems

  • Knowledge of basic math, engineering, and construction principles and methods

  • Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings/blueprints, and instructions

  • Ability to offer feedback to the design team to improve cost, quality, and aesthetics

  • Written and verbal communication skills, use of MS Outlook and Teams

  • Experience in a fast-paced construction environment

  • Self-motivated and works well with others

  • Safety training and use of fork lifts, scissor lifts, and heavy equipment operation

  • Experience with mechanical systems, carpentry, concrete, welding, earthwork, conduits


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Work hours depend on site priorities and may require extended hours, weekends and holidays; flexibility required

  • Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, wind, rain

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform regular manual labor

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, work at heights, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
