We are a small, established geotechnical engineering firm in Rocklin, California, seeking an experienced

Construction Materials Field Technician to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working both in the field and in the laboratory, takes pride in doing quality work, and wants to be part of a small team where their work has a direct impact on the success of our projects.

The ideal candidate has experience with soils and concrete testing, is comfortable working independently in the field, and takes pride in accurate documentation and professional communication.

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing field inspections and testing of soils, concrete, and other construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications
• Performing soils and concrete laboratory testing in accordance with applicable standard test methods
• Operating and maintaining a Troxler nuclear density gauge
• Preparing clear and accurate field reports, test results, and other project documentation
• Maintaining organized field and laboratory records
• Communicating with contractors, inspectors, engineers, and other project personnel
• Traveling to various construction sites throughout the Sacramento/Roseville/Rocklin area and surrounding regions

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• At least 2 years of experience performing construction-related soils and concrete testing
• Hands-on experience operating a Troxler Nuclear Density Gauge
• A working understanding of standard soils and concrete testing methods
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• A positive, professional attitude
• A strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership of assigned work
• The ability to work independently while also contributing to a small team
• The ability to regularly lift and carry 50+ pounds
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Radiation Safety Officer/Operator certification or equivalent nuclear gauge certification
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification
• Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record

Preferred:

• ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector certification
• Additional construction materials testing or inspection certifications
• Experience with Caltrans or other public works projects
