Job summary

Primera is seeking a civil engineering/construction professional to assist on transportation construction projects, providing inspection, documentation, and daily reports under a Lead Engineer.

You will collaborate with clients, consultants, and vendors while applying standard techniques and procedures. A strong foundation in engineering and field experience will support your growth within our team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management.
• 2-3 years of construction experience.
• Familiarity with IDOT procedures and applicable certifications.
• Strong organization and communication skills.

Our Transportation Construction Division is a talented team of experts working together to deliver engineering solutions that move people in a smarter way. We provide full-service planning, design and construction management services on everything from roadways and bridges to airports, stormwater infrastructure, utilities infrastructure and parks/recreation projects primarily for state and local agencies and municipalities.

WHO YOU ARE

• You studied engineering. You have a bachelor7s degree in civil engineering or construction management and have at least 2-3 years of construction experience.


• Or, you have worked in construction with solid field experience. You have 3-4 years of field experience with civil construction work in Utilities.


• You know construction. Familiarity with IDOT procedures and have a current IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification. You also possess an understanding of construction inspection practices. Civil construction experience for Utilities, such as: interpreting contract documents (specifications, reading drawings, etc), grading activities, concrete foundations (spread footings/drilled piers), building experience (concrete, structural steel, precast erection, roofing, etc), is a plus.


• Youre a people person with the ability to interface and collaborate effectively with clients, employees, and the management team. Your strong organization and communication skills will contribute to your success.


• Youre proficient with business and engineering applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

WHAT YOULL DO

• Youll assist on construction projects. Youll provide inspection for various construction projects, and assist with maintaining project documentation, including calculations, daily reports, project filing, etc.


• Youll work under a Lead Engineer. Youll perform work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria under supervision. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.


• Youll connect with people. Its critical to the work we do. Youll interface with clients, consultants, subconsultants, and vendors. Youll build strong relationships and maintain a focus on superior client service.
