Job summary

Shaw Construction is seeking a Self Perform Surveyor to support our Colorado Front Range operations. The role covers layout, staking, formwork verification, and quality control, with involvement from early estimating through project close-out.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in surveying, an associate degree in surveying, and strong skills in AutoCAD and Trimble systems. A valid license and OSHA 10 are required, with BIM360/Procore experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in surveying (minimum) or higher.
• 5+ years of surveying experience.
• Comfortable with AutoCAD, Trimble Access/Business Center; Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, Navisworks, or BIM360 a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required).
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 a bonus).
• Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, work on active construction sites, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform concrete layout, staking, and formwork verification.
• Set control points with Trimble equipment and coordinate with trades.
• Support estimating with quantity take-offs and constructability reviews.
• Collaborate with BIM and framing teams on design and plans.
• Conduct routine field inspections and QA/QC checks during construction.
• Mentor Shaw team members and crew on surveying practices.
