Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred.
  • LSIT, CST or Professional Survey licensure is preferred.
  • At least five years of survey and layout experience is required.
  • Experience with heavy highway and bridge construction is preferred.
  • Experience with GPS-based survey development and layout.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project-specific survey needs and ensure components are built to correct dimensions.
  • Verify information from owner/designer matches project documents.
  • Mentor and oversee other field surveyors as needed.
  • Direct and coordinate outside survey services when utilized.
  • Maintain up-to-date survey equipment and perform regular servicing.

Brayman Construction Corporation in Saxonburg, PA is actively seeking a dependable full-time Construction Surveyor to conduct surveying and layout on bridges, dams, highways, foundations, geotechnical projects and other heavy civil industrial projects with minimal supervision from the Survey Manager. While the Construction Surveyor will be based in Saxonburg, PA, regular and frequent travel to job sites will be necessary. This mostly include travel within Western PA, Allegheny, Butler, or Beaver County.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION SURVEYOR

In this Construction Surveyor role, you will oversee project‑specific survey needs and ensure project components are built to the correct dimensions in the correct location. You ensure that the information provided by both the owner and the designer is correct and that the existing conditions match that which is shown in the project documents. You will use your knowledge of the latest surveying equipment and techniques; you are part field management and part quality control.

As a leader, you enjoy mentoring and overseeing other field surveyors as needed. Your communication skills come in handy as you build strong relationships with coworkers, clients, and vendors. You provide actual project surveying and layout when required. When utilized, you will direct and coordinate outside survey services utilized.

Working with the Survey Manager, you help ensure the project survey equipment is up to date, serviced regularly and maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION SURVEYOR
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying or related field preferred.
  • LSIT, CST or Professional Survey licensure is preferred.
  • At least five years of survey and layout experience is required.
  • At least five years of work experience with similar types of survey equipment required.
  • Experience and a comprehensive understanding of GPS based survey development and layout.
  • Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with heavy highway and bridge construction is preferred.

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

SURVEYOR WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position that will require you to work a varied schedule based on projects. Your work will take you on the road to job sites within the Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina region.
