Employment Type: Full Time

Position Overview

As a Survey Party Chief, you will play an integral role in establishing and maintaining methods for safe, accurate, and efficient Survey Field Operations to support the construction of the Shady Hills power project.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.

Location

Project assignments will be determined at time of offer. We have current projects in CO, NE, KY, TN and surrounding regions. Must be willing to travel and relocate regionally throughout career.

One of the many things that makes Kiewit’s culture unique is that we go where the work is, which exposes your career to abundant opportunities. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available, combined with the development plans, skill sets and career goals of each team member. This means your Kiewit adventure is custom-designed to meet our shared needs. This position will begin based out of Colorado and would typically involve travel and relocation throughout your career.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility: As a Survey Party Chief, you will maintain an accurate schedule, mentor and train field personnel, plan and model reviews, and conduct field survey operations. The Survey Party Chief should plan to spend 80% - 100% of their time in the field performing survey field operations.

  • Implementing the project survey plan specific to field operations in communication with the project team.
  • Understanding the ongoing operational requirements (layout) and project closeout criteria.
  • Creating, reviewing, and ensuring the accuracy of files before they are used in the field for calculations or layout purposes.
  • Ensuring and maintaining accurate recordkeeping and legible field notes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Setting and maintaining the project control network.
  • Performing discipline-specific layouts for the control of construction on the project.
  • Overseeing the operation with periodic reviews of record keeping and field procedures and participating in survey audits to ensure that all work is performed efficiently and professionally.
  • Establishing regular meetings with the project team to understand the schedule and prioritize layout.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrable experience in Construction Survey, Dimensional Control, Industrial Measurement, or a related field is required.
  • Trimble Survey Hardware and Trimble Business Center experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Machine Control systems, ability to upload and download files, and basic modeling skills are a plus.
  • Must be able to apply basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry concepts to perform calculations (area, volume, circumference, proportion, percentage).
  • Dynamic thinker with the desire to lead, motivate, and mentor teams.
  • Self-starter with the ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team.
  • Committed to working safely and getting the job done right the first time.
Other Requirements
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Work productively and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week, along with weekends, as required by schedule.
  • May work at various locations from time to time where conditions may vary.
Working Conditions
  • Will manage a diverse workload; must be able to handle changes in the work environment and remain flexible while accommodating project needs.
  • Must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management.
  • Occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours and occasional irregular hours.

Base Compensation: $66,334/yr - $99,908/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
