Job summary

Eastern Excavating in Savannah, GA seeks a Construction Survey Crew Member / Survey Assistant to support field surveying operations on a variety of projects around the Savannah area. You will assist the Crew Chief, perform construction layout and staking, and help operate GPS/GNSS equipment and total stations.

This is a full-time position with on-the-job training and opportunities to learn construction surveying and advance within the company while working safely on active sites.

Qualifications

• Construction or surveying experience is a plus but entry-level applicants are welcome.
• Experience with survey equipment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physical labor.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift and carry equipment as needed.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Follow instructions and pay close attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Must work safely around construction equipment and job-site hazards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily field surveying operations.
• Perform construction layout and staking for utilities, roads, grading, and site improvements.
• Set stakes, hubs, benchmarks, and other survey points.
• Operate and assist with GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, levels, and other surveying instruments.
• Hold prism/rod and assist with collecting accurate field measurements.
• Read and understand basic plans, drawings, and construction documents.
• Maintain surveying equipment and keep the work area organized.
• Follow safety procedures while working around heavy equipment and active construction sites.
• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with the Crew Chief and construction personnel.
