This position will be filled at either the Construction Supervisor I or Construction Supervisor II level, based on the selected candidate’s education and experience. Working under limited supervision at a Department of Energy environmental restoration site, the Construction Supervisor assists and supports management in construction, construction support, and field engineering, and plans, develops, coordinates, and directs the activities of an assigned functional area.
You will plan, schedule, and organize work to make effective use of employees while ensuring compliance with all contract requirements, safety requirements, quality standards, and budgetary guidelines. You will maintain the staffing levels needed to execute the assigned scope of work, instruct employees on work methods and performance expectations, provide leadership and motivation, and be responsible for the direction, training, evaluation, supervision, and administration of construction personnel while maintaining positive employee relations. The role also assists with developing and updating plans, policies, and procedures and with preparing and implementing the approved construction program.
As a subject matter expert, you will apply diversified knowledge of construction and technical principles to complex assignments, make independent decisions to resolve problems and coordinate work, and provide comprehensive technical and functional support to the construction team. You will oversee investigations of waste management facilities, evaluate environmental waste transportation, treatment, and disposal vendors for acceptability, and develop and oversee quality assurance and training programs related to the handling of radioactive and other hazardous waste. You will interface with groups inside and outside the organization, including senior management, client representatives, auditors, design engineers, and specialized service providers; may deliver presentations to senior project management, carry budgetary responsibilities, and be assigned special projects; and will actively participate in Safety Work Groups.
At the Level II, the role additionally includes developing training for the construction team and may include supervising and coordinating the work of construction support engineers. At the Level I, the role includes training subordinate personnel and may include supervising and coordinating other construction support personnel.
