Department of Water Resources in California seeks a Construction Supervisor I to oversee inspection, supervision, and coordination of contract activities for the Pearblossom Project HQ and the State Water Project. Hybrid telework is available, with extensive field oversight required.

Under direction of the Construction Supervisor II, Water Resources, the incumbent performs difficult construction oversight work which involves continuous construction inspection, supervision, and coordination of contract activities and employing of Partnering concepts to ensure an efficient operating relationship between the Department and construction contractors on assigned construction projects for the Pearblossom Project Headquarters (OPH) and the State Water Project (SWP).

Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle. May be required to travel on public roadways including traveling to remote areas.
Travel on short notice and overnight lodging will be required on some trips.
May be required to work extended amounts of overtime.
The position also requires that the incumbent be alert around the operation of construction equipment and be able to perform safely in and around construction sites.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
We are looking for candidates with high level experience with civil quality control inspections, including excavation; soils testing; backfill compaction; concrete forms; reinforcing bar; concrete placement; concrete curing and engineered features, on heavy civil projects including, pumping plants, power plants, aqueducts, pipelines, levees, bypasses, dams, roads, buildings, and other similar structures for the State Water Project. Experience with As-Built drawings and completing inspection reports a plus, as well as reviewing plans and specifications and checking of construction survey notes. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of construction Partnering concepts. Candidates need to be proficient in standard office productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the use of cloud-based construction management software and scheduling programs. Lastly, candidates should have excellent organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
