Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must have 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in the construction field, with home and residential construction knowledge.
  • Must have computer experience including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and draw construction and building plans.
  • Must have knowledge of various roof types (sheathing, trusses, gutters, panels).
  • Must have extensive knowledge of equipment, power and hand tools used in home construction and repair.
  • Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and be insurable.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises Crew Leaders and field personnel engaged in construction, repair, maintenance, rehabilitation, and site improvement activities. Provides daily oversight of multiple crews and maintains a high standard of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. Responsible for personnel management including hiring, training, coaching, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and workforce development. Coordinates schedules, dispatches crews, manages workloads, and inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with department standards and project requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides daily supervision of crews assigned to the Construction Services division and maintains a high standard of quality and productivity.
  • Responsible for the personnel management function to include recruitment, orientation, training, approving leave, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Recommends disciplinary actions and annual evaluation wage increases for staff members in a fair, timely, and consistent manner to all crew members
  • Schedules and dispatches crews to jobs daily, and more often as service demand dictates.
  • Works closely with clients and crews when scheduling jobs, purchasing materials, and inspecting work in progress and completed projects.
  • Ensures all work orders are completed in a timely manner and ensures staff complete and submit all paperwork for billing on a routine basis.
  • Maintains an accurate and sufficient inventory of tools, materials, and equipment to maintain crew productivity and safety while also ensuring that materials are used in accordance with tribal policies.
  • Provides updates to Division Head on work activities including project progress daily, and more often as service demand dictates, as well as reporting crew problems.
  • Participates in staff meetings, division meetings, client meetings, and other meetings that are related to the division.
  • Participates in, and provides coordination support for snow removal, fall and spring clean-up & Tribal Ceremonies.
  • Maintains a positive work environment for crews and other staff to work in.
  • Ensures that all employees have sufficient training for and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Attends at least 10 hours of job-related training and 10 hours of supervisory training each year.
  • Researches, identifies, and recommends job-related training for Crew Leaders and Repairman to promote continuous improvement amongst individual staff members as well as the Construction Services Division.
  • Provides immediate training and support for staff on jobs when needed to ensure work is completed according to governing code and best practices for the work.
  • Oversees timekeeping, work reporting, and project documentation for Crew Leaders and Repairman
  • Maintains a strong field presence and provided direct operational leadership to crew leaders and repairman.
  • Investigates and resolves customer concerns and field issues as they arise.
  • Participates in a positive, supportive, and team-oriented environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must have 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in the construction field, with experience in both home and residential construction, including knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and operation of heavy equipment.
  • Must have computer experience including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have the ability to accurately read, interpret, and draw construction and building plans.
  • Must have a general knowledge of various roof types to include sheeting, trusses, gutters, and panels.
  • Must have extensive knowledge in the use of equipment, power and hand tools, and other machinery used in home construction and repair.
  • Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle Insurance policy.
  • Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History and fingerprint check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Working knowledge of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and the location and ownership of houses within the exterior boundaries of the reservation is preferred.
  • Experience supervising construction crews.
