Scott Humphrey Corporation is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee corrections construction projects across the Southern United States. This role requires extensive travel and leadership of complex commercial projects from groundbreaking through completion.

Ideal candidates thrive in challenging environments, can manage multiple sites, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and facility representatives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience managing corrections, detention, secure government or other highly regulated projects is strongly preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel full-time throughout the Southern United States.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• OSHA certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership for corrections construction projects from start to finish.
• Manage daily field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and site logistics to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, and facility representatives.
• Maintain project schedules and address field challenges to keep work progressing.
• Ensure work meets quality standards, contract requirements, and project specifications.
• Conduct daily reports, safety meetings, inspections, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
• Enforce OSHA and company safety policies while maintaining a clean, organized job site.
• Lead project teams through successful project closeout and turnover.

Our client is a respected commercial general contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-quality projects and fostering long-term relationships with both clients and employees. They are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee corrections construction projects across the Southern United States.

This position is ideal for a Superintendent who enjoys traveling, thrives in challenging environments, and has experience leading complex commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through completion. While candidates may be based anywhere, Texas-based candidates are strongly preferred due to the current project pipeline.

Current and upcoming work includes multiple corrections projects throughout Central Texas and Mississippi, with additional opportunities anticipated across the South.

• Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing, scheduling, quality control, and safety.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA certification is preferred.
