Job summary

White-Spunner Construction is seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on our Southeast projects. This role oversees subcontractor coordination, ensures projects stay on time and within budget, and mentors Assistant Superintendents and field staff.

The position requires 5+ years of field experience, a focus on quality, safety leadership, and strong communication. Occasional travel in the Southeast United States is expected.

• Maintain job site record of contract drawings.
• Take job site photos and complete daily reports.
• Coordinate with inspectors and acquire all necessary permits.
• Communicate with owners, subcontractors, and the team in a positive way.
• Maintain positive relationships to retain clients and quality subcontractors.
• Review and complete final punch lists in a timely manner.

Job description

The Superintendent is the company representative who has the primary responsibility for all field operations, including the coordination of subcontractors’ work. Superintendent is responsible for all field activities associated with the project, including ultimate responsibility for implementation and supervision of all field construction work by subcontractors and self-performed work. The individual in this role shares responsibility with the Project Manager for developing the project budget, actively participating in the preconstruction phase, and ensuring that the project is built on time, within budget, and according to company policies and procedures. The Superintendent also manages and mentors Assistant Superintendents and other field personnel.

30 hours of OSHA training once every four years required, as well as first aid and CPR training.

Availability and ability to travel in the Southeast United States.

Qualifications

• Preferred but not required: B.S. in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or other related field. Direct field experience in trades substitutes for college degree.
• 5+ years of experience. Depending upon the project size, scope, and complexity the years of experience may vary.
• Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations.
• Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple activities/projects, meet multiple deadlines and network with staff, management and clients.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
