Job summary

Allan Myers is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead high heavy civil projects, bringing strong leadership and technical knowledge across bridges, highways, and related disciplines.

You will plan, organize, and supervise crews to meet schedule, quality, and safety goals on complex infrastructure projects, while mentoring field staff and coordinating with managers and owners.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; equivalence considered.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 6 years heavy civil construction with at least 2 years as Superintendent.
• OSHA 30-hour certification required or enrolled within 6 months of hire/promotion.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates technical proficiency in one or more heavy civil work disciplines (bridge, highway, excavation, pipe, concrete, paving, grading, mechanical).
• Understands project plans, estimates, man-hour budgets and production rates for assigned projects.
• Plans and organizes work to maximize crew productivity, sets staffing and equipment plans per phase.
• Supervises field managers, mentors them, and optimizes equipment utilization and crew assignments.
• Reviews job cost with Project Manager and implements adjustments as needed.
• Follows Allan Myers Safety Program, preplanning for conditions, PPE, and incident reporting.
• Coordinates with Field Managers and customers to implement project plans and maintains relationships with owner/engineer.
• Inspects construction work to ensure quality standards are met.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates technical proficiency in multiple aspects of one of the following work processes (i.e., bridge, highway, excavation, pipe, concrete or paving, grading, mechanical and/or other relevant disciplines).
• Has a complete understanding of the plan details and specifications of assigned projects including the estimate, man-hour budget and production rates.
• Plans and organizes work to maximize potential crew productivity. Establishes work plans and staffing plans for each phase of the project. Communicates performance expectations for productivity, quality, and safety to crews and monitors progress to ensure schedule and financial goals are met.
• Supervises field managers for assigned projects and plans/schedules manpower and equipment as needed. Mentors/coaches field managers in leading their crews. Maximizes equipment utilization levels and schedules field personnel assignments.
• Reviews job cost with Project Manager, Field Manages and implements adjustments as needed.
• Follows the Allan Myers Safety Program including preplanning to identify conditions and exposures, proper safety and personal protective equipment and accident investigation and reporting.
• Coordinates and collaborates with Field Managers, other Superintendents, and the customer to implement successful project plans. Maintains professional relationships with the owner, engineer and other members of the construction team.
• Inspects construction work as necessary to ensure quality requirements and standards are met.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required (equivalent work experience will be considered)
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred (continuing education in construction highly desirable)
• Minimum 6 years of heavy civil construction experience with at least 2 years of Superintendent experience required
• Experience in multiple trade disciplines preferred
• OSHA 30 hour certification required (those not having this credential must certify or be enrolled in a certification course within 6 months of hire/promotion)
• Valid driver’s license required.
