Inception Engineering & Consulting, LLC is a multidisciplinary firm providing architecture/design, engineering, permitting, construction, and project delivery services. We work on commercial, residential, renovation, tenant-improvement, and ground-up construction projects.
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee day-to-day field operations and provide strong on-site leadership for assigned construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong daily presence on active construction sites.
- Manage daily construction activities and coordinate subcontractors and trades.
- Develop, maintain, and actively manage construction schedules and weekly look-ahead schedules.
- Proactively identify and resolve field issues before they cause delays or rework.
- Read and coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
- Identify constructability issues and trade conflicts before they affect construction.
- Monitor workmanship and require correction of deficient or incomplete work.
- Coordinate required inspections and correction of inspection deficiencies.
- Prepare daily reports, progress photographs, schedule updates, and field documentation.
- Monitor material usage, rework, and potential cost impacts.
- Identify potential cost overruns and notify management early.
- Coordinate routine materials, equipment rentals, deliveries, and site logistics.
- Document unforeseen conditions and assist management in evaluating cost and schedule impacts.
- Manage punch lists, final inspections, owner walkthroughs, and project closeout.
- Participate in regular project reporting, coordination, and company meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction superintendent or field-supervision experience.
- Commercial construction experience required.
- Strong practical knowledge of construction means, methods, details, and sequencing.
- Strong ability to read architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Strong construction scheduling knowledge and experience using professional scheduling software.
- Ability to independently solve field problems and develop practical, cost-conscious solutions.
- Strong subcontractor leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving construction environment.
- Comfortable using email, Excel, PDF drawings, digital reporting, and construction-management software.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel regularly between project sites and occasionally overnight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bluebeam or similar plan-review software experience.
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; substantial relevant field experience may substitute.
This is a full-time, primarily field-based position based in Gainesville, Florida, with regular travel to active project sites. Flexibility may occasionally be required for early mornings, evenings, weekends, or project-specific needs.
