Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead daily field operations on industrial projects in the United States. You will ensure safety, quality, and schedule performance while coordinating subcontractors and managing project resources.

The role requires strong leadership, OSHA knowledge, and the ability to document progress, report findings, and communicate with owners and project teams. Travel to sites and field oversight are expected.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
  • Minimum 5+ years of commercial or industrial construction supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily pre-planning meetings and coordinate field activities with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Review project progress, schedules, critical path activities, and outstanding action items to establish daily work priorities.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor project constraints, work area conflicts, and schedule impacts while implementing recovery plans as needed.
  • Inspect incoming deliveries, verify quantities and condition, document shortages or damages, and coordinate material logistics.
  • Enforce all site safety requirements including PPE compliance, fall protection, respiratory protection, scaffolding inspections, and equipment safety.
  • Maintain personnel accountability through daily manpower tracking, visitor logs, emergency procedures, and workforce awareness.
  • Exercise and promote Stop Work Authority (SWA) and immediately correct unsafe conditions or work practices.
  • Coordinate crane operations, lift plans, temporary power, and specialty equipment inspections.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical installations for compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and track punch list items while ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor project schedules, identify delays, communicate schedule impacts, and coordinate recovery efforts.
  • Serve as the primary field liaison between owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project management.
  • Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
  • Prepare daily superintendent reports documenting manpower, work completed, safety observations, project delays, and field issues.
  • Capture daily progress photographs and maintain project documentation, material records, and action item logs.
  • Coordinate next-day manpower, equipment, permits, inspections, and material requirements.
  • Mentor foremen and field leaders while promoting accountability, communication, and professional development.

Job description

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and successful execution of field construction operations on assigned projects. This role focuses on six primary responsibilities: leading daily field operations, managing safety and personnel accountability, coordinating subcontractors and project resources, maintaining quality and schedule performance, serving as the primary client and contractor liaison, and overseeing project documentation and reporting. This position is critical in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring installations meet quality standards, driving productivity, and delivering projects on schedule while representing the company professionally in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead daily pre-planning meetings and coordinate field activities with subcontractors and project stakeholders

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered
  • Minimum of 5+ years of commercial or industrial construction supervision experience required
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multiple construction trades required
  • Experience with industrial mechanical and electrical installations preferred
  • Experience overseeing complex construction projects from mobilization through commissioning preferred
Special Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and critical path management
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and changing project priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred; First Aid/CPR certification preferred

This position operates primarily in active commercial and industrial construction environments with regular exposure to changing weather conditions, elevated work areas, heavy equipment, and active construction activities. The role requires frequent walking, climbing, standing, and interaction with subcontractors, clients, inspectors, and project management. Extended hours, weekend work, and travel may be required to support project schedules, shutdowns, commissioning activities, or critical milestones.
