Job summary

Embark Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Commercial Construction Superintendent in Columbus, OH to lead on-site activities from groundbreaking to project closeout. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of superintendent experience in commercial construction, reads drawings and specs well, and is proficient with CM software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; related-degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
• Projects typically range from $5M to $50M; experience with larger scopes is a plus.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specs, and contract docs.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and jobsite safety management.
• Proficiency with CM software: Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera P6.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day field operations from groundbreaking through closeout.
• Develop and enforce project schedules to meet milestones and deadlines.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and self-performed work.
• Conduct daily jobsite meetings to review safety and progress.
• Ensure work complies with plans, codes, OSHA, and quality standards.
• Perform QC inspections and resolve field issues to protect schedule.
• Coordinate inspections with authorities and support turnover.
• Review construction documents for conflicts or constructability issues.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage labor, materials, equipment, and resources.
• Monitor costs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
• Maintain accurate daily reports on manpower, weather, deliveries, and activities.
• Manage punch lists and oversee project completion to owner acceptance.

Our client, located in Columbus OH, has an immediate need for Commercial Construction Superintendents.

Position Summary

The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project team members while maintaining strong communication with the Project Manager, owners, architects, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects from groundbreaking through project closeout.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce project schedules to ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and self-performed work.
• Conduct daily jobsite meetings to review safety, production goals, and project progress.
• Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, building codes, OSHA regulations, and company quality standards.
• Perform quality control inspections and proactively resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget.
• Coordinate inspections with local authorities and facilitate successful project turnover.
• Review construction documents and identify potential conflicts or constructability issues.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to manage labor, materials, equipment, and project resources efficiently.
• Monitor project costs and identify opportunities to improve productivity while minimizing waste.
• Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, progress, weather conditions, deliveries, inspections, and jobsite activities.
• Manage project punch lists and oversee project completion through final owner acceptance.
• Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent managing commercial construction projects.
• Experience overseeing projects ranging from approximately $5 million to $50+ million preferred.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, sequencing, and best practices.
• Thorough understanding of OSHA safety regulations and jobsite safety management.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience managing multiple subcontractors and coordinating complex project schedules.
• Proficient with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
