Job summary

NSF EPC seeks a Construction Superintendent to provide on-site coordination for solar construction projects located in NYS. You will manage subcontractors, materials, and equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications, schedules, and budgets while maintaining site safety.

The role requires 5+ years in large-scale construction and 3-5 years in solar PV, with a Bachelor's in engineering or construction management preferred. Travel to remote sites is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently reviews project plans & specifications and ensures stringent conformance from all contractors.
  • Takes ownership of all project site logistics.
  • Hold morning safety meetings along with weekly subcontractor meetings and provide updates on schedule impacts, change orders, budget, safety, & quality control.
  • Identify necessary permits and licenses from authorities to ensure the project meets regulations and ensure all such actions are complying.
  • Drive and tightly manage all Project Schedules and keep the Project Manager informed if we are hitting our goals, or if we need to adjust to stay on track.
  • Directs and approves the development and implementation of subcontractor schedule recovery plans as required.
  • Utilize effective and efficient processes, procedures and workflows on each solar project site which meet or beat schedules and budgets while minimizing financial risk.
  • Manages and coordinates all on-site subcontractor activities for compliance with the master construction schedule. Enforces compliance with subcontractor work scope versus contract requirements.
  • Coordinates the Construction Completion Walkdowns and the complete hand over of start-up packages to the Startup Manager and supervises the close out of all punch list items.
  • Conducts weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors.
  • Ensures all personnel on the project site adheres to SWPPP, Environmental Regulations, Regulatory requirements, OSHA Safety Standards, Quality Assurance Program, Ethical Standards, and Lessons Learned policies.
  • Accountable for completion of project load banking, Permission to Operate, construction punch list, and project turn over.
  • Has full knowledge of the safety program and acts as the Safety Representative on site.
  • Resolves safety and QA/QC issues with the safety and quality representatives.
  • Responsible for the effective coordination & management of 3rd party special inspections or product Manufacturer's Technicians for any inspections or commissioning.
  • Ensure all documentation has been reviewed, compiled, and completely accurate for project close out and turnover. Maintain daily paperwork including daily sign in sheets, morning safety huddles (THA review), field reports, safety documentation, site safety orientations, RFI’s, schedule updates and email correspondence.

Job description

SUMMARY: The Construction Superintendent will provide on-site coordination for all phases of solar construction projects located in NYS. This will includes the management and coordination of all subcontractors, project materials, and all onsite equipment. The Superintendent’s primary focus is ensuring that project specifications are being strictly adhered to, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Superintendent shall be responsible for all project site coordination, deliveries, logistics, strict adherence to project plans & specifications, value engineering, scheduling, inspections, quality control, punch list, project turn over, and complete project site safety.

Pay Range: $100,000-$135,000 (Pay information will vary depending on relevant experience for the position)

TERMS/HOURS: Full-time

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years minimum of experience in large-scale general construction.
  • 3-5 years of solar photovoltaic experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of education and appropriate experience preferred.
  • Prefer an Electrical Background.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires working in very hot (above 80 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work around hazardous equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods during the day.

Regularly use hands to reach; ability to talk and hear.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
