Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Performs a variety of field engineering assignments by applying basic engineering techniques and analyses. This entry-level Construction Specialist is exposed to various aspects of field engineering and construction activities while gaining exposure to Company procedures and industry practices. May give functional guidance to craft personnel. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.

The project worksite is on Kwajalein atoll in the Marshall Islands and you must be willing to relocate there on long-term assignment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs various field engineering assignments requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories typically studied in a Bachelors in engineering, Architecture, or other Construction related program, as well as general industry practices.
  • Receives and reviews all approved construction drawings and specifications; ensures that all outdated documents are revised. Maintains construction drawing and specification files.
  • Prepares drawings and layouts as needed.
  • Assists in eliminating any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. Helps ensure that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.
  • Assists in the preparation of construction work schedules.
  • Maintains construction technical catalogs, supplier data, and other literature pertaining to the project.
  • Prepares submittal packages.
  • Ensures received materials and onsite materials match approved submittal documents
  • May provide functional guidance to craft personnel.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Supervision Received – Quality Control (QC) Manager/QC Specialists; Construction Manager; Project Manager
Supervision Given - Craft employees (functional guidance only)
Internal Contacts - All employees on project
External Contacts - Suppliers; Subcontractors

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, or other construction-related field is required. In addition, 1+ years of experience in field construction is preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires a fundamental knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as good written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction is also required.
