Job summary

Perimeter Security Partners in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a motivated Traveling Construction Specialist with strong construction experience to install and repair security bollards and barriers. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of construction experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a background check. An hourly wage between $24 and $29 is offered, along with full-time benefits and 80% of the work on federal job sites.

Job description

Perimeter Security Partners is looking for a motivated Traveling Construction Specialist with strong construction experience to install and repair security bollards, active and passive vehicle barrier equipment, security fencing and personnel gates, throughout the United States. Work is performed outdoors in support of governmental, military, industrial, and commercial clients. This role may also assist other crew members with the installation and repair of all types of access control point (ACP) equipment throughout the United States.

The Construction Specialist will perform a wide variety of construction tasks such as: equipment operation; forming, placing, and finishing concrete; tying reinforcing bar for concrete foundations; layout, installation, and repair of security fencing and gates; demolition / excavation; and other tasks within their competency as directed. The Construction Specialist will work under the direction of a Superintendent or Foreman who will provide a daily work plan, deliver safety briefs, and provide on-the-job training to expand the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

Duties
  • Perform construction trade work under a daily work plan in outdoor conditions.
  • Execute construction tasks with a variety of common hand tools, including shovels, picks, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills, and prybars.
  • Operate powered equipment such as skid steer, shooting boom forklift, trencher, concrete saw, and mini-excavator.
  • Work cooperatively with other Construction Specialists to accomplish the daily work plan.
  • Saw cut and demolish existing concrete and asphalt paving, excavate earth, set and brace barrier/fence equipment, place and finish concrete, and assemble gates/fences/barriers.
  • Maintain all safety standards and use personal protective equipment.
  • Unload material arriving at the jobsite.
  • Set and remove traffic control devices, erosion control devices, and temporary fence as required.
  • Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact sites to meet design criteria.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment, tools, and vehicles before use to ensure safety and proper operation.
  • Clean and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials according to manufacturer recommendations and company policy.
  • Drive company trucks to and from jobsites.
Requirements, Skills, And Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience as a construction tradesperson.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Pass a background check and drug test to permit access to military installations and similar controlled areas.
  • Experience operating powered equipment is preferred.
  • Experience installing a variety of security fencing and gates is preferred.
  • Experience placing and finishing reinforced concrete is preferred.
  • Bi‑lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifts at least 50 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have full use of hands, fingers, and arms.
  • Work outdoors up to 60 hours per week in a variety of weather conditions.
Additional Information
  • 85% or more travel, typically for two to three weeks at a time to project sites across the United States.
  • Employee will receive a company credit card for approved expenses (e.g., hotel, fuel, tools, and materials). A fixed per diem offsets meals and expenses.
  • Hands‑on and other training opportunities are available.
