Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Construction Site Safety Representative / EHS Staff member to support a major project in the Boise, Idaho area. This is a field‑focused safety position requiring approximately 80% of working time in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of full‑time construction safety experience
- Equivalent construction‑safety experience obtained through part‑time or collateral safety responsibilities
- Completion of an equivalent 2‑year associate degree in health and safety education
- An equivalent recognized professional safety certification
In addition, candidates should have:
- Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and safe work practices.
- Experience performing field safety inspections, audits, and observations.
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and behaviors and take appropriate corrective action.
- Experience coaching construction/craft employees on safe work practices.
- Strong safety documentation and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently in an active construction environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with electronic documentation and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to spend approximately 80% of the workday in the field.
- Ability to walk active construction sites, climb stairs/ladders, and work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
- CHST or another recognized professional safety credential.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with industrial, structural steel, or large commercial construction.
- Experience coordinating subcontractor safety.
- Experience maintaining employee training records and training matrices.
- Familiarity with crane, forklift, and aerial/MEWP safety requirements.
- Experience conducting toolbox talks and safety orientations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily field safety inspections and observations.
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices.
- Perform job hazard analyses and field safety audits.
- Coach craft workers on safe work practices.
- Conduct new‑hire and visitor safety orientations.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Monitor PPE compliance.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Complete required daily safety observations/reports using the project‑designated reporting system.
- Maintain signed employee training records and historical training documentation.
- Maintain an accurate training matrix showing required/current employee training, badging, and applicable work assignments.
- Provide training documentation and matrices when requested by the Contractor EHS Team.
- Verify required operator certifications for equipment including cranes, forklifts, and aerial/MEWP lifts.
- Participate in project safety‑team activities, safety meetings, and professional‑development programs.
- Maintain accurate inspection and safety records and provide regular reporting to GNB Global’s Safety Manager.
- Work with construction management and field personnel to resolve identified hazards promptly.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; climb stairs and ladders; bend and perform normal construction‑site activities; lift up to approximately 50 pounds when required; work outdoors in varying weather conditions; and wear all required PPE.
Project Information
Local Boise‑area candidates are strongly preferred.
This position is not eligible for travel pay, per diem, or housing assistance.
