Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Site Manager to lead construction management on a brownfield coal-to-gas conversion project at a live power facility in Seattle. You will coordinate with the Owner, EPC/engineering team, plant operations, and contractors to safely deliver the project while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.

The role requires 15+ years of industrial construction leadership, strong contractor management, and experience with union and non-union teams, Primavera P6 scheduling,

Qualifications

• Fifteen (15+) years of industrial construction experience with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.
• Proven track record leading multi-discipline construction activities on power generation, energy, heavy industrial, or process facility projects.
• Experience executing projects within operating brownfield facilities.
• Strong understanding of contractor management, contract administration, change management, and field execution planning.
• Experience coordinating union and non-union contractors in complex industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day Construction Management activities during project execution.
• Serve as primary field interface between the Owner, EPC/engineering team, plant operations, contractors, and commissioning personnel.
• Coordinate activities across multiple owner-held construction contracts.
• Lead contractor coordination and progress meetings and facilitate resolution of field issues.
• Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, productivity, schedule, staffing, and contract compliance.
• Oversee implementation of construction work within an operating brownfield power generation facility, including outage and tie-in activities.
• Coordinate interface management between union and non-union contractors while maintaining compliance with site labor practices and project requirements.
• Review and validate contractor progress, change requests, payment applications, and field reports.
• Drive construction schedule adherence and recovery planning in collaboration with contractors and project controls personnel.
• Promote a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and operational excellence.
• Provide routine reporting to the Owner and project leadership team regarding project performance, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Support construction completion, turnover, system walkdowns, start-up, and commissioning activities.

Job Summary

The Site Manager serves as Black & Veatch's senior on‑site representative and is responsible for leading Construction Management services during execution of a brownfield coal‑to‑gas power plant conversion project. The Site Manager will provide leadership, oversight, coordination, and assurance across all construction activities performed under multiple owner‑held contracts. Working within an active operating facility, the Site Manager will coordinate project stakeholders, engineering, commissioning, operations, safety personnel, and contractors to safely deliver the project while minimizing impacts to ongoing plant operations. Construction will be executed utilizing a combination of union and non‑union contractors under client‑managed contracts. The Site Manager is accountable for construction planning, contractor interface management, field coordination, schedule oversight, safety leadership, quality assurance, risk management, and reporting. This role does not include responsibility for supplying craft labor or direct management of self‑perform construction forces. The Site Manager acts as the Owner's construction advisor and field leader, ensuring contractors execute work in accordance with contract requirements, project objectives, and site standards. This description aligns with responsibilities common to construction site management leadership in industrial projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coal, gas‑fired generation, combined‑cycle, or major power plant retrofit/conversion experience.
• Experience supporting system turnover, commissioning, and start‑up activities.
• Knowledge of outage management and tie‑in planning within operating generation facilities.
• Familiarity with industrial labor relations and mixed‑workforce project environments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Fifteen (15+) years of industrial construction experience with progressively increasing leadership responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi‑discipline construction activities on power generation, energy, heavy industrial, or process facility projects.

• Working knowledge of construction scheduling and progress measurement tools, including Primavera P6.

Physical Demands:
