Job summary

Environmental Air Systems in High Point, NC is seeking an HVAC sheet metal installer with strong duct layout and safety focus. The role requires understanding all aspects of HVAC installation and the ability to work in teams of 4–5, across multiple areas.

Candidates should have a high school education and at least five years of sheet metal experience, be capable of reading duct and architectural drawings, and possess welding/fabrication knowledge to support equipment installation.

Qualifications

  • Understanding all aspects of HVAC installation.
  • Lay out duct for installation and anticipate workflow.
  • Dependable with a good work attitude and teamwork.
  • Adheres to EAS safety policies and regulations.
  • Spot unsafe situations and correct them as needed.
  • Sketch fittings for duct connections; rigging signals for cranes and forklifts.
  • Welding and fabrication of supports for equipment.
  • Know air flow: supply, return, exhaust.
  • Quality control to install devices per manufacturers' instructions.
  • Read ductwork and architectural drawings to locate rooms and elevations.

Responsibilities

  • Understand HVAC installation requirements and work with the crew.
  • Coordinate with other trades to resolve conflicts and keep progress.
  • Maintain safety and quality standards on site.
  • Assist with rigging and operation of lifting equipment as needed.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to plans and specs.

  • To be able to lay-out duct for installation and look ahead to keep work going smoothly.
  • Employee must have a good working attitude.
  • Needs to adhere to all EAS safety policies and regulations.
  • Must be capable of spotting unsafe situations and correcting them as needed.
  • Has to be able to sketch fitting for duct connections. Have knowledge of signals for rigging, and setting HVAC equipment with cranes, boom trucks, lulls, and forklifts.
  • Have knowledge of Welding and fabrication of supports for equipment.
  • Needs to know Air flow of systems as far as—Supply; Return; Exhaust.
  • Needs to be able to do Quality Control to make sure that all HVAC inline Mechanical Devices are installed according to Manufactures Instructions.
  • Needs to be able to work with other Trades in a Professional manner to correct any conflicts that may arise.
  • Capable of reading not only duct work drawings, but Architectural drawings to locate rooms, ceiling elevations, columns.

EDUCATION
  • Minimum of a high school education or equivalent
  • This Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of Sheet Metal experience
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Requires working in conditions of varying heat and cold and where noise levels are at or above 90 decibels.
  • Courses in construction safety are a requirement.
  • Be able to continue job if Superintendent is not available
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
