Techno Consult Engineering, PC is seeking Construction Safety Specialists to support Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on major capital construction projects. These on-site roles monitor contractor safety, identify hazards, and support a safe construction environment in Jersey City, NJ and New York, NY.

Requirements include 5+ years in construction safety, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, NYC DOB SST card, OSHA 30, and experience with large infrastructure projects.

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
• Experience with building construction/heavy civil infra projects

• Experience with hazard assessments and Job Hazard Analyses

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Techno is seeking Construction Safety Specialists to support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) on major capital construction projects. These are on-site, field-based positions responsible for monitoring contractor compliance with applicable safety regulations, identifying hazards, and supporting a safe construction environment. Locations are for Jersey City, NJ and New York, NY.

• Monitor construction activities for compliance with OSHA, NYC DOB, FDNY, and other applicable regulations and safety standards.
• Review contractor Health & Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, drawings, and project documentation.
• Conduct site audits and inspections to identify safety deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor work conditions, equipment, and construction operations for compliance with approved safety programs.
• Prepare daily safety reports documenting observations, findings, photos, deficiencies, and corrective measures.
• Conduct accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with PANYNJ Resident Engineers, safety representatives, contractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 5+ years of construction safety experience, including accident investigation and prevention.
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Valid NYC DOB Site Safety Supervisor (SST) Card.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• Experience with building construction and/or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1926, NYC DOB, FDNY, DOT, DEP, and other applicable safety regulations.
• Knowledge of construction and fire safety standards, including NFPA and NYC/NJ Fire Codes.
• Experience conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license.
• CHST or other recognized construction safety certification preferred.
• Experience with OCIP/CCIP projects.
• Previous experience on Port Authority projects is a plus.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $48-$55/hr. This is not a definitive number. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
