Job summary

Compliance Management International (CMI) in Ridgefield, NJ is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist for a field project starting mid-October 2026. The role requires hands-on EHS expertise and a strong MEP background to guide safety for contractors and trades.

You will perform site inspections, review safety plans and permits, provide coaching on OSHA compliance, and ensure adherence to 29 CFR 1926 standards with a focus on NFPA 70E and LOTO. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction safety experience.
  • MEP experience required — hands-on or direct safety oversight of mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing work.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards.
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED.
  • Strong hazard recognition, communication, coaching, and field leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily construction safety/EHS oversight for contractors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and observations.
  • Review JHAs/JSAs, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), permits, toolbox talks, and safety documentation.
  • Coach contractors on OSHA compliance and safe work practices.
  • Oversee MEP, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, LOTO, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, hot work, excavation, cranes, rigging, and material handling.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926, client requirements, and site-specific safety programs.

Construction Safety Specialist
Ridgefield, NJ | Full‑Time | Starting Mid‑October 2026

Compliance Management International (CMI) is hiring an experienced Construction Safety Specialist for a construction project in Ridgefield, NJ, starting mid-October 2026.

We’re looking for a hands‑on EHS/Safety Professional with 5+ years of construction safety experience and a strong MEP background—either working directly in the mechanical, electrical, or plumbing trades or providing safety oversight for MEP contractors and activities.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide daily construction safety / EHS oversight for contractors and subcontractors
  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, hazard assessments, and observations
  • Review JHAs/JSAs, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), permits, toolbox talks, and safety documentation
  • Coach contractors and trades on OSHA compliance and safe work practices
  • Oversee MEP, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, LOTO, fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, hot work, excavation, cranes, rigging, and material handling

What You’ll Bring

  • Preferred: CHST, STS‑C, ASP, CSP, OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, or a safety/EHS‑related degree
