Job summary

Compliance Management International (CMI) invites a seasoned Senior Construction Safety Specialist to join the Owner’s Safety Representative team for a high-profile data center project in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. This on-site, long-term role focuses on safety leadership, risk identification, and action to strengthen the project's safety culture.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction safety on large-scale projects, GC representation experience, and strong OSHA knowledge.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction safety on large-scale commercial/industrial projects (preferred).
  • Minimum 3+ years of construction safety experience representing or working for a General Contractor (GC).
  • Data center and/or mission-critical construction experience is strongly preferred.
  • Owner's Representative / Owner's Safety Representative experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards and electrical safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on field safety leadership and Owner-level oversight on the data center project.
  • Monitor GC/subcontractor compliance with Owner requirements, project safety standards, OSHA regulations, and best practices.
  • Conduct daily field observations, inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide corrective-action recommendations and review PTAs, JHAs, JSAs, permits, and high-risk work plans.
  • Oversee high-risk activities (electrical work, LOTO, fall protection, excavation, cranes/rigging, etc.).
  • Mentor and coach contractors and site personnel on safe work practices and risk reduction.
  • Support site orientations, safety stand-downs, and project-specific safety programs.
  • Prepare safety reports and metrics for Owner and project leadership.

High-Profile Data Center Safety Opportunity

Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Safety Specialist to represent the Owner on a high-profile, large-scale data center construction program in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

This is a long-term, full-time opportunity for an accomplished construction safety professional who understands the pace, complexity, and high standards associated with mission-critical and data center construction.

The successful candidate will serve as a visible Owner's Safety Representative, working closely with general contractors, subcontractors, project leadership, and field personnel to identify risk, verify compliance, drive corrective action, and strengthen the project's overall safety culture.

Data center / mission-critical construction experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must have at least 3+ years of construction safety experience representing or working directly for a General Contractor (GC).

This is an on-site position. Only candidates currently residing within reasonable commuting distance of the Dallas Fort Worth project area should apply. No travel allowance, per diem, or relocation assistance is provided.

What You'll Do
  • As the Senior Construction Safety Specialist, you will provide hands-on field safety leadership and Owner-level oversight throughout construction activities.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a professional and highly visible Owner’s Safety Representative on a major data center construction project.
  • Monitor GC and subcontractor compliance with Owner requirements, project safety standards, OSHA regulations, and recognized industry best practices.
  • Perform daily field observations, inspections, audits, and assessments to identify hazards, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide constructive, technically sound recommendations to contractors and project leadership.
  • Review and evaluate Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), permits, and high-risk work plans.
  • Provide oversight of high-risk construction activities, including electrical work, energized systems, LOTO, fall protection, excavation, confined spaces, cranes/rigging, material handling, and mobile equipment.
  • Apply strong knowledge of electrical safety, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and electrical construction hazards within a mission-critical environment.
  • Participate in contractor safety meetings, coordination meetings, toolbox talks, preconstruction meetings, and project leadership discussions.
  • Mentor, educate, and coach contractors, supervisors, and field personnel on safe work practices and risk reduction.
  • Support site orientations, safety stand-downs, training initiatives, and project-specific safety programs.
  • Identify recurring safety trends and work collaboratively with project stakeholders to develop sustainable corrective actions.
  • Verify corrective actions are completed effectively and documented appropriately.
  • Prepare professional safety reports, observations, metrics, and documentation for Owner and project management review.
  • Promote a proactive, accountable, and collaborative safety culture across all levels of the project.
What We're Looking For

  • Required / Preferred Experience
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or similarly complex construction projects preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of construction safety experience representing or working directly for a General Contractor (GC).
  • Data center and/or mission-critical construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Owner's Representative / Owner's Safety Representative experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction safety and energy control.
  • Experience monitoring multiple contractors and subcontractors within a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize hazards, evaluate risk, recommend controls, and professionally influence corrective action.
  • Strong knowledge of JHA/JSA, Pre-Task Planning, LOTO, fall protection, electrical safety, confined space, excavation, cranes/rigging, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with craft personnel, foremen, superintendents, safety professionals, project managers, and senior leadership.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365 and electronic safety management/reporting platforms.
Education & Certifications

The following qualifications are required or highly valued:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction – current/recent certification strongly preferred.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED – required.
  • NFPA 70E training – highly preferred.
  • BCSP certification – CHST, CSP, or STS-C – highly preferred.
  • OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 – preferred.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of relevant education, certifications, and significant construction safety experience may be considered.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is an active, field-based construction safety position supporting a large-scale project.

The role requires the ability to regularly stand and walk for extended periods; navigate active construction areas and uneven terrain; climb stairs and ladders; stoop and bend; access roofs and elevated work areas; enter permitted work areas as authorized; and lift or carry up to approximately 30 pounds.

The position may involve exposure to typical construction conditions, including noise, dust, changing temperatures, wind, rain, and other outdoor environmental conditions.
